2010
Car Wreck in Nashville - $275,000.00 settlement for a Nashville man who was injured as a passenger in a one vehicle accident on Interstate 24 in Nashville. The case settled before a lawsuit was filed. Jonathan Williams collected every dollar of insurance limits available for the client and then negotiated the health insurance lien saving the client tens of thousands of dollars in his settlement.
Workers’ Compensation- $102,943.81 settlement in a workers’ compensation claim for a muffler manufacturer who injured his neck. All aspects of the claim were denied by the insurance company until the day of settlement. 2009
Condemnation and Eminent Domain - $238,050.00 jury verdict in Williamson County for landowner who alleged incidental damages after the City of Brentwood condemned .72 acres for the construction of a water tank. The city offered and paid in to Court $36,225 for the land taken and denied liability for any other damages. The firm hired an expert appraiser who performed an appraisal and testified live at the two day jury trial. The City of Brentwood hired an expert who testified that there were no additional damages. The jury, after deliberating for a few short hours, returned a verdict that matched the opinions of the firm’s expert. $35,706.44 in interest and $3,996.55 in expenses were added to the judgment after trial. During the trial, Jonathan Williams used the firm’s audio visual equipment and computer technology to show the jury the powerful photographs and slide presentations that illustrated the client’s damages. The City of Brentwood appealed the judgment to the Tennessee Court of Appeals and a decision has not yet been rendered. The case is City of Brentwood v. George M. Products Liability and Wrongful Death - Confidential settlement for the minor child of a Middle Tennessee State University student killed in a single vehicle roll-over accident on Interstate 24 near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Williams, PLLC represented the family of the young woman and her daughter in a lawsuit against the vehicle's manufacturer and the manufacturer of the tires, claiming the products were defective and unreasonably dangerous, and a service center that serviced the victims SUV shortly before the accident for its negligence and failure to warn the young lady about the defects of her vehicle and tires. The firm also set up a guardianship for the minor child and administered the victims estate.
Premises Liability and Slip/Trip and Fall – $126,250.25 judgment in the Circuit Court of Davidson County, Tennessee for a woman severely injured after she tripped over an uneven concrete sidewalk as she left a Nashville night club. The Plaintiff sued the defendant night club and its owners for failing to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition, for failing to remove a dangerous condition that the defendant knew or reasonably should have known about, and for violating Metro-Nashville building codes concerning sidewalk safety. Saturn Corporation denied that the employee was injured at work. After a one day trial, the trial judge determined the injury to be compensable an ordered the judgment in favor of the employee including lifetime medical treatment for the injury.
